First, we need the basics. Type the requested information in the boxes below. If you do not have an email address, or don't want to fill out a section, simply leave the field blank and it won't appear on your web page.
Write down any degrees you've received so far, your major, and the institution that you attended. Please use this format: Degree (space) Major (comma) College so that it looks like this:
BA Liberal Arts, San Diego State University
Write a paragraph about yourself that focuses on your background. Where did you grow up? What kinds of work have you done? What do you want the world to know about you?
Write a paragraph that describes your present professional interests, activities, and future plans.
Is there anything else you want to share--current projects, recent awards, etc.?
If you've found some interesting places out on the World Wide Web and would like to share them with others, you can do that here. You can make them into working links by adding the HTML tags and then cutting and pasting the URL in between the HTML tags as shown below.
You will need to type the HTML tags (shown in blue) and the URL and web page title (shown in orange) into the correct locations (see example below).
<a href= http://theURL.html > thePageTitle </A>
This is where you add any disclaimer required by your institution and link your home page back to another page. Simply highlight and type over the disclaimer to add your own disclaimer.
If you'd like to personalize your page by coloring the background and text in your favorite hues, you can select the colors here. Otherwise, you may skip to the next part. For an appealing, readable homepage, choose a color combination with high contrast (dark on light, for example).

Select one of the following:
Link Colors
These are the underlined hypertext links in your web page. This color should be different from your text color and fit with the color scheme you've chosen for your page.
Visited Links Colors
This color should be different from your text color and links that have not been visited.
Clicking the "Create Homepage" button below will take all the text you've written and put it into HTML form so that it is ready to be placed on the Web. You can then save the file (see instructions below), customize it, and put it on your web server.
note: You can use your browser's "Back" key to return here once you've created your homepage to change colors, edit your text, or re-read the directions for saving your file.
Once you've saved your page, you can view it by using the browser Main Menu options, File, Open, then Choose file or Browse--depending on your browser--and then navigate to the floppy drive or hard drive directory where you saved your file. Once you've saved your page, you can also edit it with any word processor, text editor, or Web authoring tool.
