Introduction

So,now that you are in BIG school and you expect to learn all sorts of new stuff in Science. But what is Science all about anyway?

Below are some questions on different Science topics. Use the links provided to find the answers. Write them out on paper and hand them in to your teacher

So grab your mouse and head for the further reaches of cyberspace!

Oh yeah. Don't forget to include your answer to the Big Question at the end.

  1. According to a 'Food Guide Pyramid', What types of food should we eat only sparingly?

  2. Draw a map of Australia and colour in today's cloud pattern.

  3. What is a Sonic Boom and how fast do you have to be going to make one?

  4. Name the date and place of the most recent volcanic eruption.

  5. How many times a day does your heart beat?

  6. The planet Jupiter has a small moon close to it named Io. What is special about Io?

  7. What is Amber and how can it tell us what types of animals existed millions of years ago?

  8. Draw a simple Atom and label a proton, a neutron and an electron.

  9. Draw a labelled diagram of the way light can travel through an optical fibre.

  10. Perform the 'Pepper Scatter' experiment at home and describe what happens and why.
