Introduction
AP Psychology Research Project
1. Pick a topic you are already interested in and link it to psychology. A Powerpoint with suggestions is on the course website. Topic:___________________________________
2. Are you working by yourself or one other person? If you are working with someone it’s because the project is difficult to do individually. List partner here, if approved:________________________
3. Create a question to research. Your question will require you to do ONE of the following: evaluate a theory or hypothesis OR create a new explanation, system or program OR compare and contrast competing claims/theories/methods.

4. One component of your research must be original: interviews you conduct, naturalistic observations you record, new correlations you make, an experiment you replicate, etc. List method here:________________________
5. Use the class time provided to read and create your PowerPoint presentation. Document your daily in-class activity on other side for credit.
6. Present your findings to the class using PowerPoint. One person: approximately 5-7 min./ two persons: 10-15 min.
7. Be ready to take questions from the class about your findings. SKIP for 2008
8. After all presentations, write (type) an essay about the key findings from each presentation. Time in class will be provided to type this. SKIP for 2008
9. Hand in with your notes from the presentations. SKIP for 2008
10. Credit is achieved for working on the project, presenting your findings and the essay and your notes. No essay or notes for 2008

Presenting your learning: The Format
Here’s how you format your PowerPoint to present to the class:

A. Introduction Slides 1 to 4 or 1 to 8 (two people) Tell us what you were looking for, why you are interested in the topic, and what you expected to find
Define all major terms or theories we need to know; tell us what theory or hypothesis you are exploring NO MORE THAN 50 WORDS ON A SLIDE

B. Major findings Slides 5 to 15 or 9 to 30 Tell us what you found out about your research question; what research studies support your claims? Do you accept these findings? Why or why not?
Be able to cite and identify your resources in this section (websites, books, articles; and these are limited to scholarly and legitimate news and organizational sources)

C. Summary Slides 16 or 31-32 Tell us your conclusions: Were you able to answer your question? What are your main findings? On what evidence do you base your findings?

D. Sources: Slide 17 or 33 cite at least 7 (individual) or 10 (group) sources that you quoted in your presentation; remember to use quotations and footnotes where needed.

TURN IN EACH DAY WE DO RESEARCH 10 pts. each day.

a. “I visited the website www.zimbardo.com and took notes on the relationship between aggression and conformity.”
b. “We need a copy of that survey you told us about and two sheets of poster board.”

IF YOU ARE ABSENT: Tell me what you did as make up: read articles, worked on posters, etc.
