Introduction
Students will complete a 2-3 page Career Overview paper and PowerPoint presentation.The reserve cart of print materials includes the Career Discovery Encyclopedia and the Encyclopedia of Careers and Vocational Guideance. Search the Matoaca High School catalog for specific careers titles. Read for information such as required school courses, qualifications, future job outlook, salary and working conditions. Take notes and remember to list all resources on a Works Cited page.

Matoaca High School Online Catalog - Search the catalog of books on specific careers. Use the advanced search option and enter two subject terms, the career title (ex: marketing) along with the term Vocational Guidance.

Internet Sources

Exploring Career Information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics - Choose a link to what you like to do from their home page and the BLS will provide information related careers including the nature of the work, career requirements and preparation, current salaries, availability of work and future outlook for the career field.
The Occupational Outlook Handbook - Search by career title for information such as training and qualifications, earnings and job outlook.
Virginia Career View - Search by job title or career clusters, educational requirements, salary and work environment. Provides salary information by national, state and region.
