Introduction
What is courage? What does being courageous mean to you?

For your research topic you will be writing about a person who has shown real courage. You must find two articles in which a person has shown courage against internal or external conflicts.

Be sure to have your thesis statement (your topic written in the form of a statement) in the introduction. Begin by writing a definition of courage, stating the types of courage that you have found, and/or explaining what makes a person courageous.

Body Paragraphs 1,2,and 3 all begin with a topic sentence in which you give the title and author of each article and state in general what the article is about. Then write supporting details and information as is presented in each aritcle. Be sure to paraphrase the material (putting information into your own words). Each body paragraph is a summary of your article. Each body paragraph should end with a concluding sentence.

In Body Paragraph 4, write a paragraph about an experience you and your family member had that demonstrated courage. Describe what type of courage was shown (internal or external) and explain why this was an act of courage.

Begin your Concluding Paragraph with a transitional sentence and restate the topic of your research. Conclude by explaining the most significant things you learned and/or by expressing the importance of having courage in life.
