• Literature Books (Grade 1)Lessons - Lesson plans for 15 stories such as Hop on Pop, Caps For Sale, The Mitten. Each with lesson plans, literature strategies, ideas for integration into other subject areas,

• Leveled Books: Reading Recovery Levels - Helpful, a variety of publishers. In this one you punch in the information and it gives results.

• Back to School: Beginning of Year Assessment - Many ideas for quick assessment those first few days of K + 1.

• Database of Leveled Trade Books - Limited but helpful resource for some of the trade books such as Carrot Seed, Do You Want to Be My Friend and Green Eggs and Ham. Reading Recovery Levels given too.

• Ask Jeeves Search Engine - Uses natural language. You use your natural language to ask a question. Sometimes simpler than thinking up the appropriate words for a search.

• Google Search Engine - Uses text matching. When doing a search you'll receive a list of Web pages that match all of your search terms exactly.

• Yahoo Search Engine - Uses categories that can be helpful when you have a general idea of the information you desire.Ask Jeeves

• Ask Jeeves for Kids - Is a kid-friendly version of Ask Jeeves. If a search term is misspelled the site will offer possible options. This site has been screened and approved by Ask Jeeves staffers.

• Using Technology-Apple Works- To Practise Word Wall Words. - Technology in Action:Integrating Technology Later grade 1's can enter word wall words on Apple Works spreadsheet.

• Children's Storybooks Online - Books to read online. All are illustrated and some have animation. Levels from vey young to young adult.

Multimedia Technology: WebQuests for K-3: a Sampler

• The Hungry Caterpillar: A WebQuest for K/1 - An interactive webquest including based on language and math skills, the children's knowledge in beginning sounds as well as how well they know the story. Based on Eric Carle's book.

• The Backbone WebQuest - This is a multimedia study of vertibrates and invertibrates designed for grade 3 called a WebQuest. It is an interesting example of what we can do using technology. This WebQuest includes animal pictures, written information, an animal sorting game, a series of questiions, a printable answer sheet, and even animal sounds.

• Japan: A WebQuest at Grade 1+2level. - A WebQuest is an interactive, online search for information. There is a specific goal in mind in terms of learning, tasks are set and assessment is done. There is print, sound, and photographs.

• Canada: WebQuests for Grades 2/3, 3/4, 5/6 - Interactive, online seach for information. Maps, flags. photographs are included. There is a specific task layed out for the students and assessment tools are also present.

• Little Explorers Picture Dictioary. - Click on a letter of the alphabet and see a page of words starting with that letter. Most entries have links to a related site. Pictures even have links. Each word is used in a meaningful example sentence.

• Space ABC's - An Alphabet Book by Primary Students. Click on one of the pictures and you will find a letter of the alphabet and some informations about space.
