Introduction
Designed mostly for upper elementary students, this hotlist has links to site on volcanoes, earthquakes, plate tectonics, and a WebQuest on forces.

Volcanoes

Discovery Channel's Virtual Volcano - Enter this site to learn about the different types of volcanoes and to create your own virtual one.
FEMA for Kids: Volcanoes - Photos, safety information, videos of past volcanic eruptions.
Volcano World - Click on the link for 'Kid's Door' to take virtual field trips to volcanoes around the world, play online games, and get project ideas.
Volcanoes - Textual information interspersed with video clips that illustrate the different concepts in the formation and eruption of volcanoes.

Earthquakes

Earhquake! National Geographic Kids Magazine - Interactive multimedia story of earthquakes. Good textual information with photos and video.
Earthquakes for Kids - From the USGS, this site has lots of information on a variety of earthquake topics, written specifically for kids.
FEMA for Kids: Earthquakes - Online games and books, historical and safety information, and photos of past earthquakes.
Understanding Earthquakes - An interactive site featuring an online quiz, rotating globe, and animation of how earthquakes occur.

Natural Disasters

Forces of Nature - Science, maps, videos, and the ability to set the parameters to trigger your own volcano or earthquake and see how they are formed.
National Geographic Eye in the Sky - Text, video, animations, and images on a variety of natural disasters including earthquakes and volcanoes.
Natural Disasters - Links to resources and informaion on volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis, as well as weather-related events such as hurricanes and floods.
Savage Earth Online - From the PBS series, Savage Earth, this site explores plate tectonics and seismic activity that causes volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis. Very informative with animations and video clips.

Plate Tectonics

Earth Floor: Plate Tectonics - Information on convergent, divergent, and transformation boundaries.
Enchanted Learning - Earth's Plates and Continental Drift - From the Zoom School section of Enchanted Learning, information, graphics, and animations on plate tectonics. Includes printable handouts that can be used by the students.
Quia - Geography World - Plate Tectonics/Continental Drift - Interactive quizzes, matching, flashcards that can be used to assess the learning after studying this concept.
This Dynamic Earth: The Story of Plate Tectonics - An online publication of a book by the USGS. You can view the book in it's entirety, or use the Contents to look at specific sections such as 'Hotspots' or 'Understanding Plate Motions'.

WebQuest

Forces of Nature: Constructive and Destructive Forces - This is a WebQuest focused on the question, 'How do constructive and destructive forces shape and reshape the earth’s surface?' Students complete the WebQuest and learn about both types of forces.
