- 3M Young Scientist Challenge - Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge is the premier national science competition for students in grades 5 through 8. The Young Scientist Challenge is designed to encourage the exploration of science and innovation among America's youth and to promote the importance of science communication. In 1999, Discovery Communications launched the competition to nurture the next generation of American scientists at a critical age when interest in science begins to decline. - Children's Environmental Literature - The Children’s Environmental Literature Bibliography is available for download courtesy of Wisconsin's Project WILD, Project Learning Tree and Project WET programs. This popular resource was initially developed in 1997 and has been revised as a reading list for early childhood providers and to help teacher's meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind legislation (NCLB). The bibliography contains more than 400 books, over 300 of them new additions. For easy teacher reference, the books are grouped according to topic area and age group.

- Teachers’ Corner –Southeast Rebuild Collaborative - The purpose of this curriculum is to provide an exciting, hands-on, and comprehensive introduction to the concept of energy and its uses that can be presented to a group of students in a short time (1-2 hours) in conjunction with the SunChaser2 mobile education unit. Instead of exposing students to a rapid fire succession of disconnected or irrelevant facts, this curriculum instead strives to lead students to trace out the three primary paths by which energy flows in our world, and illustrate the differences. - Increasing energy conservation awareness in elementary school students - An energy education program — Knowledge Is Power! (KIP) — in California's Ojai Valley, uses peer to peer interaction and experiential learning to educate elementary school students. A marionette show, interactive solar-powered laboratory, energy footprint project, and a school energy audit are all part of the curriculum. Educational consultant Michael Stark submitted this effective practice in August, 2003 as part of a project for CalServe.

- U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl - DOE launched its National Science Bowl competition in 1991 to encourage high school students to excel in science and math and to pursue careers in those fields. The National Science Bowl's high school competition now involves more than 13,000 students. DOE introduced the National Science Bowl's competition for middle school students in 2002. It now involves more than 5,000 students. The National Science Bowl is the only science competition in the United States sponsored by a federal agency.
