New York State Canals - This site is sponsored by the state of New York. Students will be able to read about the history of the Erie Canal and other New York canals. They will also find information about things to see and do in the area today. It is also possible to download a copy of the Erie Canal song here.
The Erie Canal Museum - This is the place to read about the many exhibits housed at the Erie Canal Museum. The museum is located in Syracuse, New York and admission is free.
The Erie Canal--A Journey Through History - Students will love this multimedia presentation about the history of the Erie Canal. Be sure to listen to all of the Erie Canal songs!
The Erie Canal--Clinton's Big Ditch - This is the place to read about Governor Dewitt Clinton, the man who proposed the building of the Erie Canal. The site also includes pictures of the canal as it looks today. Students will also be interested in the many maps found here.
