Introduction
“I'm not asking any of you to make drastic changes to every single one of your recipes or to totally change the way you do business. But what I am asking is that you consider reformulating your menu in pragmatic and incremental ways to create healthier versions of the foods that we all love.”
Michelle Obama, First Lady of the United States

Michelle Obama, the First Lady of the United States, has taken on the initiative to encourage healthy eating for kids and families in order to combat the growing epidemic of obesity in the United States. Through her “Let’s Move” program (www.letsmove.org), she has been encouraging kids around the country to take control over their diets and fitness in order to lead a healthier life. By consuming the proper amount of nutrients and eating smaller portions of good for you food, you can prevent diseases, achieve a healthy body weight, increase your energy and perform at your best in sports and other physical activities.

Using the resources on the Hotlist you will collect your information to then create your project. Be sure to answer the following:
1) What are the benefits of a healthy diet?
2) What are the latest USDA dietary guidelines?
3) What is your diet currently? What are its strengths and Weakness?
4) What are your goals?
a. Are you an athlete and want to perform at your personal best level?
b. Do you want to learn what a healthy body weight is and how to achieve it?
c. Are you interested in learning more specifically how nutrition and exercise can be used to be lower the risk of disease (like diabetes, heart disease, cancer)
d. Why did you choose to focus on that goal?

With all the information you have provided, create a chart/diagram to show the healthiest of your favorite foods in each group. The final project should consist of a shopping list and menu for the day that meets your dietary and nutritional goals. The project should have a cover page, table of contents and include all the needed information from the questions above.
