Introduction

Unit 4 Project: Developmental Psychology
1. Are you working by yourself or someone you haven’t worked with yet? If you are working with someone it’s because the project topic/research question is challenging and difficult to do individually.
2. Pick a topic you are already interested in and link it to a topic from class activities or Textbook Chapters 10 (Children), 11 (Adolescence), 12 (Adult and Aging), or 13 (Gender Differences).
List research topic here:_________________________________________________
3. Create a question to research. Your question will require you to do ONE of the following: evaluate a theory or concept or claim OR create a new explanation, system or program OR explain a complex set of behaviors and/or thinking
List research question here: ______________________________________________

4. Use the class time provided to gather your research. Record your activity here>>
5. Present your findings to the class using an appropriate format. One person: approximately 5-7 min./ two persons: 10-15 min.
6. Be ready to take questions from the class about your findings.
7. After all presentations, write (type) an essay about the key findings from each presentation. Time in library will be provided to type this.
8. Hand in with your notes from the presentations.
9. Credit is achieved for working on the project, the rubric used for the presentation, and the essay and your notes.

Presenting your learning: The Format
Here’s how you format your PowerPoint to present to the class:

A. Introduction Slides 1 to 3 or 1 to 6 Tell us what you were looking for, why you are interested in the topic, and what you expected to find
Define all major terms or theories we need to know; tell us what theory or hypothesis you are exploring

B. Major findings Slides 4 to 13 or 7 to 27 Tell us what you found out about your research question; what research studies support your claims? Do you accept these findings? Why or why not?
Be able to cite and identify your resources in this section (websites, books, articles)

C. Summary Slides 14 or 28-29 Tell us your conclusions: Were you able to answer your question? What are your main findings? On what evidence do you base your findings?

D. Sources: Slide 15 or 30 cite at least 7 (individual) or 10 (group) sources that you quoted in your presentation; remember to use quotations and footnotes where needed.
