Introduction
A nation creates music - the composer only arranges it.

- Bela Bartok

What does this quotation mean to you? Now let's discover the artists and the influences of some of the most popular Hispanic music genres.

Your job is to research either a musical instrument(s) OR dance of the Hispanic culture. What is the instrument? What does it look like, sound like? How is it used? What other important information about your instrument have you discovered? OR What is your dance? Is this a fast dance or a slow moving dance? What other important information about your dance have you discovered?

Find one contemporary artist who plays the instrument OR performs the dance you have just researched.

You will be creating a PowerPoint presentation on your instrument OR dance and your contemporary artist. Your slide show will include the following:

1. The quote from Bela Bartok and your reaction.

2. Your choice of instrument OR dance and related and relevant information.

3. Your contemporary artist and a description of how he/she uses the instrument or implements the dance. You must CONNECT your artist to the instrument or the dance.

4. Import music into your presentation.

5. Your own reflection/comments about the instrument or dance.

6. Work sited (bibliography) slide.

Due Dates: Extra credit for all reports handed in on September 27. All reports are due on October 3.
