Phosphorus was found in 1669 Hennig Brandt in Hamburg Germany. Phosphorus is found naturally in the earth. Phosphorus is important to teeth and bone growth. There is phosphorus all throughout the body.

Basic Information-Phosphorus - This site lists basic in formation about the element phosphorus's physical properties. This site includes an illustration of the atomic strucuture of one atom of phosphorus. This site includes a list of isotopes and their half lives. In a section of this website where it breifly describes facts about the element it also states who discovered phosphorus and when it was discovered. This web site also gives a list of related links and a description on how to cite the page properly through MLA format.
Essay and description: Phosphorus - This site is more of a specialized site pertaining to the health benefits of Phosphorus. The benefits include: Helps stimulate the muscles in the body, gives stable and plentiful nergy, and assures transmission of impulses from one nerve to another. The site isn't very asthetically pleasing but it is really only for health benefits and not about information about the element.
It's Elemental- Phosphorus - This site is a site put up by an educator so it is very 'kid friendly'. Unlike other sites this site lists the estimateted abundance of phosphorus in the ocean and in the earth's crust. Despite the lerge history and uses discription the site is very small and there is not much information about physical or chemical properties like the other sites. This site isn't ver astheticallty pleasing and it needs more information to be as useful as I had hoped it to be.
Lenntech: Phosphorus- P - This site has The properties listen of Phosphorus and other information that I have seen on previous sites such as applications and it's applications ni the environment. The site isn't very interesting in a asthetic way. It also seems that this site is done by a corporation so some of the information isn't very pertinent to one who is not in a waste water treatment type of business.
Medical Encyclopedia: Phosphorus in Diet - This site is very descriptive about the function of Phosphorus in the body. The site says that Phosphorus's main function in the body is to form bones and teeth. Phosphorus helps in the digestive tract and system. It also says that if there is an excess of Phosphorus in the body then it can lead to serious disfunction in calcium regulation and kidney disease. This site is very interesting and informative.
Periodic table of elements- Phosphorus - This site is very elaborate. This is the best site that I have found so far and its descriptions are very extensive. This site has exterior links including a link to a sit on how to pronounce phosphorus in other languages. This site has most everything the other sites have including history and physical and chemical propersties. There are also two illustrations on this site, the first being a diagram of an atom of phosphorus and an electron dot model.
Phosphorus - This is a Wikipedia description site. On this page there are applications of the element along with characteristics such as the use of phosphorus in the production of fine china. This site also gives a definition and a history of the element such as the root of its name deriving from Greek, meaning light bearer. This site also has a picture of the element and descriptions of physical characteristics such as glow and texture. Not only does this site list that information but it also has a summary of the sections that the site is broken up into in a key at the top of the page.
Phosphorus as a micronutrient - This site describes phosphorus and its application to functions in the body. This site also describes what parts of the body are affected by the presence of phosphorus.
Phosphorus in the periodic table - This site gives the melting point, boiling point, atomic number, and atomic mass, along with other commonly known physical properties of phosphorus. This site lists the history of phosphorus, the uses, the properties, the sources, how one should handle this element, and the production information of phosphorus. This site was helpful to learn new things about the toxicity of phosphorus. I was also able to find information about where to find phosphorus in the environment. This siste also lists common phophorus compounds used every day.
Phosphorus: News - This site is about a group of engineers and scientists. The entire site is very dense and i don't really know what it is about. The site is desgned well but it is very hard to understand and isn't about the element so it is of no use to me and my research.
Visual Elements: Phosphorus - I like this site more than other sites I have found because it is easy to read and navigate and there isn't too much information. This site lists the scientist who discovered Phosphorus in 1669, Hennig Brandt in Hamburg Germany. On the first page there is just a short description of where the element is found and how it is used every day. There is also a link to a page that lists some chemical properties of Phosphorus. On the top of the page there is also a nice illustration of a symbol for phosphorus.
