Introduction
In addition to using the Digital Library, the Santee's Subscription Databases and E-Books, some of the links below will help you get started with your poetry project. For Renaissance and later poets, you might also do a Google or Yahoo search by Poet's name. As always, look to be sure the source is reliable (not the work of a 5th grade class in Kansas :)

The Internet Resources

Columbia Granger's World of Poetry - This database from LAUSD's Digital Library provides access to 190,000 full-text poems online.
NoodleTools - This is Santee's subscription site for creating online citations. The opening password is the name of our school bird.

Santee's Electronic Poetry and Literature Resources

E-Books (Gale Virtual Reference Library ) - Access many of the Library's reference books in their online version (e-books). Use our school's short name (all lower case) as the password, then click proceed. Search by document title or key word in the hundred+ books available
LAUSD's Digital Library - You must use an LAUSD account to access these grreat resources off-campus. See the Librarian or the College Counselor for a free LAUSD e-mail account.

Academy of American Poets - The Academy of American Poets is a nonprofit organization with a mission to support American poets at all stages of their careers and to foster the appreciation of contemporary poetry.
Bartleby's Anthologies of English-language Verse - English language poetry from 1250–1900 by author.

Poetry Archives - A collection of 5048 poems by 153 poets, many of them classical.
Poetry.org - resource site for poetry and poets, including the history, meaning, and types of poetry, and poetry terms. There is also a series of links to various poetry sites for poetry, with the work of famous poets, including William Shakespeare, Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, and e e cummings.

Medieval Poets

Dante Alighieri - An essay on his life and times from the Catholic Encyclopedia.
Dante's Lyric Poems - A web edition of Gaetano Cipolla's book, with translation into English by Joseph Tusiani.
Francesco Petrarch - Italian with side by side English translations of some of Petrarch's books, poems and letters, with links to a biography and other information on the period.
Geoffrey Chaucer - Features online Chaucer resources, including critical essays and quotations.
William Langland (ca.1330-1387) - This site includes a short biography, essays, and a link to the e-text of 'Piers Plowman'
