The following links will lead you to some free online reference tools (encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri). Unfortunately many are .com and therefore may have unwanted advertizements that are visible or popping up.

The Internet Resources

Arnulfo L. Oliveira Memorial Library - This site provides access to online encyclopedias, thesauri, and dictionaries. It is a college site so may be better suited for the upper grades.
Bartleby.com - The preeminent publisher of Internet literature, reference, and verse providing students, researchers and the intellectually curious with unlimited access to books and information on the web, free of charge.
Dinodictionary.com - DinoDictionary.com is your resource for hunting dinosaurs. With profiles of over 300 known dinosaurs, immerse yourself in a wealth of knowledge about the giants that roamed the earth so long ago!
Freesearching.com - Find links to a variety of online reference sources on this page.
Hannah's Homework Station - Links to References sources along with kid's news resources, world newspapers, and more.
Little Explorers Picture Dictionary - You are not required to become a member or pay for the use of the picture dictionary on this site by Enchanted Learning. Accessing the page for free simply limits access to other features that are available.
Mobysaurus - Free downloadable program. The Mobysaurus Thesaurus is here with solutions to these problems: a large selection of synonyms for each headword (main entry), displaying related headwords, suggest-as-you-type, finding synonymous headwords, cross-referencing, headword suggestion, etc.
