IMCPL Kids' Info Guide: Skeletal System - This site contains a labeled human skeleton and has 4 facts about the skeletal system. Also included are several links to various other human body systems and suggested websites and reading materials.

Where are the smallest bones in the body located?

Howstuffworks 'Sound Amplification' - This section of Howstuffworks explains how hearing works. The section entitled 'Sound Amplification' tells how sound is amplified which includes information on the three smallest bones in the human body.

What are bones made from? How do they move?

The Big Story on Bones - This website gives a detailed description of what bones are made of and how they grow. Also included are detailed descriptions of the major bones in the human body. There is also a section on muscles and joints, and a section on taking care of bones.

jointmechanics - This site is an interactive site dealing with the knee and hip joints. Students use a slider bar to cause the leg to move in specific ways. This allows the student to see how the muscles respond and what is going on inside the leg when this movement occurs. Additionally the parts of the knee are labeled and when the student drags the mouse over a part , its name s appears.

What's the big deal with the cranium anyway?

Neuroscience For Kids- The Skull - This site explains the purpose of the skull. It also has a well diagramed skull pointing out the various bones, or sections, of the skull. It contains links to the ear, the layers of the skull, and various animal skulls.
