Introduction
Why not use the power of the Internet to find Smartboard resources? Blogs, websites, Web 2.0 tools, and more are out there to help you make the most of this amazing teaching tool. The links below will get you started. The first section is comprised of different tools; the General section contains different Smartboard resources; the other categories are self-explanatory. Dig in and have fun!

The Internet Resources

360 degrees panoramas - A wide variety of panoramas from around the world, subject and content vary widely, so be sure to preview first.
42 Explore Thematic Pathfinders - On each page you'll find definitions, activities, the 4 good starting points, and many more links and resources for the thematic topic.
A I Learn Technology Blog - Excellent, thorough monthly blog that highlights a wide variety of educational and interactive websites for Smartboard use. Also describes how the site can be integrated into your curriculum.
A Teachers Love Smartboards Blog - This blog highlights best practices, tips, video tutorials, and recommended websites in a wide range of categories.
A Teqsmart Blog - A great blog highlighting features of Smartboards, plus information on websites, and free downloads of interactive tools.
Animation Interactive Multimedia (AIM) - A must see for all subject areas. Contains a long list of websites with various flash activities/animations. All.
Animation Library K-12 - Over 13,000 free animations to add life to your lessons. Download these 'gif.' to your computer and then Insert into your lesson.
Animoto video - Create your own video using images and music. Free all-access sign-up for educators. Walk through instructions in this Web 2.0 application.
Brainflips Flashcards K-12 - Create your own custom flashcards, or use an existing deck. Simple, free registration. There are many ads, but they do not show on the actual flashcard section of the site. Three ways to use the cards and search are given.
Class Tools - Create free educational games, activities and diagrams in Flash. View by school subject, or by template.
Educational videos, lessons, and games K-12 - Free online educational videos from the Internet in one place. Each video is watched and reviewed by k-12 educators to ensure accuracy and appropriateness for students. Subjects include physical science, life science, human body, earth and space, social studies, math, English (including phonics, stories, and grammar).
Flash Card Machine - A free web application that enables users to create interactive web-based study flash cards and share them with others.
Geonet Geography Game - A challenging geography game for children in grades 4 and above.
Glogster - A Glog is an interactive and creative visual platform in which users create a “poster or web page” containing multimedia elements including: text, audio, video, images, graphics, drawings, and data. Great way for students to present information they have learned.
How Stuff Works - Tabs across the top include science, geography, animals, and more. Within each subject category are articles and videos that explain 'how stuff works'. Videos are different lengths as well as different ages, so always preview first.
Jigsaw Planet - Use their templates or your own image to create online jigsaw puzzles of varying degrees of difficult. You can also ghost the background for younger students.
Parade of Games in PowerPoint - Sixteen downloadable templates for PowerPoint games, including Jeopardy, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, trivia, multiple choice, and more. Clear directions for each game.
Prezi Presentations - A Web 2.0 presentation site, enabling the use of text, images, and video to create presentations that are way more interesting than PowerPoint.
Quizlet flash cards - Free site to create your own flashcards with as many questions and answers, and five learning modes. Requires free account sign-up.
Smarttech - Click on the educator to find a vast source of lessons and activities that can be downloaded and adapted to fit your needs.
Spinners for your Classroom - Eight different types of spinners- labels, numbers, probability, and custom. Simple directions.
Teacher's Domain - Teachers’ Domain is an online library of more than 1,000 free media resources from the best in public television.
Teaching with Smartboard - More than 70 10-20 minute podcasts for educators that may be viewed to learn about different tips, tricks, and templates for Smartboard. Great for a refresher, or to learn something new.
Technology for Teachers - Offers online tools and resources to help you integrate technology into your classroom. This site helps teachers locate and create ready-to-use Web lessons, quizzes, rubrics and classroom calendars.

United States Weather Pages - Enter your local zip code and find weather conditions, graphs, and almanac information.
Virtual Field Trips - Check out the links for this wide variety of virtual field trips, especially in the collections section.
Virtual Field Trips-Smithsonian - The comprehensive virtual tour allows a self-guided, room-by-room tour of the whole museum. Navigate from room to room either by using a floor map or by following blue arrow links connecting the rooms.
World Heritage Tours - Interactive panoramic images of over 1001 natural and cultural sites from around the world.
Zamzar File Conversion - Online file conversion, covering a wide range of different image, document, music, video and compression formats. Free for files up to 100MB.

General

ABC Ya Activities K-5 - Activities are modeled from primary grade lessons and enhanced to provide an interactive way to learn. The activities incorporate content areas such as math and reading while introducing basic computer skills.
Apples for the Teacher - pre-K-6 - Fun educational site for teachers and kids. Covers all content areas and includes puzzles, holiday fun, coloring and reading activities.
Brainpop - K-12 - Viewable during school hours, this site, along with Brainpop Jr. and Brainpop ESL, can introduce, illustrate, or review simple to complex subject matters through the use of animated videos, quizzes, timelines, and activity pages.
Computer Center favorites K-5 - 50 computer learning activites in language arts, math, science, social studies, and spanish. Activities are all interactive, and between 15-30 minutes long.
Discovery Education: Kathy Schrock’s Guide for Educators - Many resources for eductors, lesson plan library, subject access, websites, teacher helpers, etc.

Quia Shared Activities - Interactive activities in many subject levels and content areas in 16 different formats including hangman, cloze activities, quizzes, ordered lists, scavenger hunts, and more. Also available on a subscription basis where you can create your own activities.

Language Arts

Early Learning Academy Pre-K-1 - Interactive lessons include online picture books, puzzles, games, songs, art, activities and printable activities that relate to different topics and disciplines. Free registration gives full access to entire curriculum of reading, math, science, and more.
Interactive Story Sites K-5 - Interactive stories with a brief description.
Into the Book K-4 - Reading strategies taught in an interactive way. separate sections for students and teachers. Simple and free login required.
Learn to Read with Starfall - From the alphabet to letter chunks to full stories, this allows the student to interact, play, read and listen.
Literactive - Reading material for pre-school, kindergarten and grade 1 students available online, comprised of carefully leveled guided readers, comprehensive phonic activities and a wealth of supplemental reading material. Free registration.
Online Spin and Spell K-5 - Select a picture in the different categories and spell it! Also good for ESL students.
Phonemic Processing K-5 - Go through 5 different levels by sounding out out and spelling words, starting with small words and adding letters as you go.
Punctuation Playground - Practice punctuating sentences on this interactive site from Harcourt.

Math

AAA Math K-8 - Interactive arithmetic lessons. Unlimited practice is available allowing thorough mastery of the concepts. Learn or review content with immediate feedback.
Computing Technology for Math Excellence - Resources for teaching and learning mathematics (K-12 and calculus), technology integration, and the standards movement in education.
Illuminations Math Activities K-12 - National Council of Teachers of Mathematics supported 103 interactive math activities through Thinkfinity.
Learner Interactives K-12 - 'Interactives' provides educators and students with strategies, content, and activities that can enhance and improve students' skills in a variety of curricular areas such as math, science, language, history and art.
Math Interactivate - Middle School - Collection, evaluation, and dissemination of java-based courseware for middle school mathematics explorations.
National Library of Virtual Manipulatives K-12 - A digital library containing Java applets and activities for K-12 mathematics. English, Spanish, and French.
Nothing but Math K-8 - This site is only about math - counting, operations, ratios, fractions, estimating, and so on. Flash-based interactives.
Study Jams - Over 200 videos, slide show and step-by-step instructions, along with a test yourself section, in math and science topics. Elementary-middle school.

Science

Astronomy Interactives - Each simulation has teacher guides and supporting material to help teachers create an effective experience.
Cells Alive - Cell biology, microbiology, immunology, and microscopy, plus interactive cell models, and cell gallery.
Explore the World of Earth Science - Working with the chapters in a Houghton Mifflin Earth Science textbook, this contains investigations, visualizations, data centers, news, and resources.
Forensic Science Lesson Plans - Articles, PDF's, Powerpoints about crime scenes, physical evidence, chromatography, forensic entomology, and more.
Freezeray Visual Science Aids - Ages 11-19, this UK-based site offers Flash-based, downloadable interactive science resources for biology, chemistry and more.
Harcourt Science Up Close 1-6 - Explore different aspects of science in grades 1-6 with text, illustrations, and video. Organized by grade level with multiple topics in each level. Clear and concise.
Math and Science Nucleus K-12 - Based in California, this site offers online slide shows and animated stories to teach different math and science concepts. Also includes lesson plans. Use the menu on the left-hand side of the home page to navigate.
National Geographic - Visit animals and their habitats through text, videos, sounds, and maps.
New York Science Teacher - 20 Smartboard lessons devoted specifically to Earth Science. Include annotations.
PBS Teachers Science and Tech K-12 - Science and Tech content by grade, an overview of resources, and a shortlist of activity packs that can even be added to a personal or class webpage.
Science Netlinks K-12 - Also part of Thinkfinity, there are links for science websites through the resources section as well as lesson plans, and interactives in the Tools section.
Secondary Science from PB Works - Links for physics resources, lessons and activities for the secondary level.
Using the Smartboard to Support Science K-12 - Downloadable activities and interactive sites, with previews and descriptions.

Foreign Language

Digital Dialects - Interactive games for language learning. Many available languages for phrases, number, vocabulary, and more.
Foreign Language Resources - Resources for free, interactive, online learning of foreign languages. The site also has excellent resources for foreign language teachers.
Language Guides - Select from 13 different languages, then select a category and hear the word being spoken.
Live Mocha Foreign Language - Learn and practice languages online.

Special Areas

Arts Edge - Part of the Thinkfinity group, explore the arts through sound and other interactives.
Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery - This is an interactive site from Birmingham, England, with many games and activities from the Roman Empire to WW II, plus links to other sites within the museum.
Dallas Symphony Orchestra Kids - Another interactive site with composer information, music theory, and teacher section.
Destination: Modern Art K-6 - Explore modern art through this site from New York's Museum of Modern Art. Look, listen, write, and create as you travel through the museum.
Incredible Art K-12 - Website of resources, lessons, games, and more all related to the arts.
Jackson Pollock - Create art just like Jackson Pollock! Just touch the Smartboard (or use your mouse). Each time you re-touch or click, a new color appears.
Kennedy Center Performance Archive 9-12 - Search for performances by artist, keyword, month, or musical genre.
Kids Health - Includes articles, animations, games, and health resources for parents, teens, and children.
Mr. Picasso Head - Explore the art of Pablo Picasso by creating your own modern art figure.
NY Philharmonic Kidzone - Learn about instruments and composers through this interactive site. You can even make your own instrument.
National Arts Centre Orchestra - Music resources, instrument lab, great composers, activities and games help one learn all about orchestra.
National Gallery of Art for Kids - Interactive art that you can make online. A beautiful, visually appealing site that lets imagination go wild!
Perfect Pitch - Learn the different instruments of the orchestra.
Soundscape - The Arab World 6-12 - Drag and drop map points in the Arab world to create music, while also learning about the history and culture of those points.
Virtual Keyboard - Play notes, chords, drum beats, and nine different instrument sounds.
