Introduction
This hotlist began in 1999 while I was teaching for Evans Elementary School. Since that time I have revised these links for all the high school levels I now teach at Evans High School. Learn and play at the same time by traveling the Internet to the links below. Find fun vocabulary games and learn more about Spanish-speaking countries. Read, listen, and watch videos in Spanish to improve your communication skills. Your Spanish teacher will be so impressed!

Spanish Vocabulary Games

Body Part Hangman - Play a challenging game of 'Hangman' using your body part vocabulary. Each word will have its definite article in front of it, either el, la, los, or las. Remember that most Spanish nouns ending in -a are feminine (la, las) and most Spanish nouns ending in -o are masculine (el, los).
Concentration Game with Weather Expressions - Match the Spanish weather expression to its English equivalent.
Crucigramas - This site allows you to practice vocabulary doing crossword puzzles online. Great for all learners, but especially for AP students who need to review!
Language Express Vocabulary Game - This is a fun way to practice your vocabulary. The game asks you for a word or phrase in Spanish and when you type the answer in a native speaker will pronounce it for you.
Learn Languages - Learn Spanish - This site is full of information! You can practice with vocabulary and verbs. There is even an audio source for pronunciation.
Matching: Adjetivos - Practice the adjectives you already know and learn some new ones with this matching game.
Matching: Basic Spanish Vocabulary - This matching game will help you increase your basic vocabulary and help you remember the words you already know.
Quia! Concentration - Numbers - See how well you know your numbers when you complete this Concentration game by turning the cards over to match the number to its Spanish name. When you've finished, you may start a new game with different numbers.
Quia! Matching - Animals/Los animales - Match the name of each animal in English to its Spanish name. Continue with a new list when you choose New Game.
Sopa de letras - Fun with word searches in an integrated format with interesting topics.
Spanish Months - Put the Spanish months in order.
Spanish Vocabulary - Relationships - Word Search - Find the Spanish names of family members in this word search.

Audiria - Use this site for reading and listening practice on a variety of topics, and even download Podcasts.
BBC Mundo - This is the Spanish language division of BBC. It has auditory and written reports on numerous topics, including current events.
Broadcast Live.com - You can jump off this page to broadcasting in numerous languages and countries.
Cody's Cuentos - Use this site to read and listen to stories in Spanish at basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.
Listen to Music - Compiled here are many great Spanish songs, the videos, the lyrics, and activities to use with them.
Mexico Connect - This is an online magazine about everything related to Mexico.
Radio Netherlands in Spanish - All manner of broadcast and print are here in Spanish and several other languages.
Radio de las Naciones Unidas - This site provides all manner of written and auditory material on many subjects including current events. It is the Spanish language division of Radio United Nations.
Spanish Language Newspapers and Magazines - Use this site to find Spanish newspapers and magazines. They also offer other languages here as well.
Spanish Newspapers Online - Find newspapers from Spanish-speaking countries here.
Suite101.com - This is a Spanish language site on which you can read news and various other articles, and also listen to broadcasts in Spanish.
Voice of America - Written and audio/video in Spanish on current events and other topics.

Learning New Words/Phrases and Challenges

1st Intern. Collection of Tongue Twisters - Spanish - Try your reading and speaking skills with these challenging tongue twisters (trabalenguas) in Spanish. Don't forget to untangle your tongue before you move on!
Grammar Quizzes - Click on the links to several types of grammar quizzes and see if you have your structure under control.
Italian Picture Dictionary - Compare Spanish words to Italian words. See how many you recognize from your knowledge of Spanish.
Learn Spanish: Idiom Generator - A fun way to learn phrases in Spanish that differ from their English equivalents.

Quiz: El Cuerpo - See how well you can identify your body parts in this multiple choice quiz.
Spanish Picture Dictionary - This is a great place to look up all the words that you have ever wanted to know.
Study Spanish-English Cognates - You can really build up your vocabulary if you realize which words are cognates between our language and Spanish. Click on any given letter of the alphabet and you can see a list of cognates starting with that letter.

El Prado - This is a site dedicated to the Museo del Prado in Madrid, Spain. There are great Spanish artists among the many represented and you can click on an artists name and view their work with information about each work. This site is in English.

Practicing Spanish Verb Usage

Irregular Yo Forms in the Preterite - Some types of verbs will change only their yo form in the preterite tense. You have to be on the look out for certain spellings to know when this happens. Generate a quiz to practice with these types of verbs.
Practice Formal Commands - Usted and Ustedes - Use these drills to practice the command forms for both usted and ustedes.
Practice Informal Commands - Tú and Negative Tú - Use these drills to practice the negative and affirmative tú commands.
Practice Irregular Informal Commands - Use these drills to practice the irregular tú commands.
Practice With Irregular Preterite Verbs - The preterite has quite a few irregular verbs. Practice with a few of them here.
Practice the Conditional Tense - Regular and Irregular - Use these drills to practice all forms of the conditional tense verbs.
Practice with -car, -gar and -zar Verbs - These verbs are irregular in the preterite yo form. Practice making those spelling changes here.
Practice with All Present Subjunctive Verbs - Use the subjunctive mood verbs in these drills. Remember those Usted commands and you will get the irregular ones correct.
Practice with Future Tense Verbs - Do verb drills with the future tense regular and irregular verbs.
Practice with Past Perfect Verbs - Use the imperfect tense of haber with the past participle to form the past perfect.

Practice with Regular Present Subjunctive Verbs - Remember the opposite vowel is king here!
Practice with Stem Changing Verbs in the Preterite Tense - Those pesky irregulars are bountiful in the preterite tense. Generate a quiz to practice with those few verbs that change their stem in this tense.
Practice with e-i Stem-Changing Verbs - Practice changing the stem of these verbs from e to i.

AATSP Georgia - This is the official website for the Georgia Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. It has all the information for Immersion Camp, and other student activities sponsored by this organization for the state of Georgia, and national competitions.
FLAIR Honor Society - This is the home page for the FLAIR Honor Society for honor students in all languages sponsored by Augusta State University.
National Spanish Exam Practice Site - This site offers National Spanish Exams from previous years on all levels of proficiency for practice.
Real Academia Española - The Royal Spanish Academy is charged with maintaining the purity of the Spanish Language. This is the ultimate Spanish dictionary and reference source for the language. It is for advanced level users since it is all in Spanish.
Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica - This is the national website for SHH.
SpanishDict - This is another reliable online dictionary and language reference source.
Word Reference - Very reliable online dictionary, where you can also click on a verb conjugator, and see related phrases, synonyms, and antonyms
