Celebrating Our Constitution: Why are 200 year old words meaningful? - Students analyze key vocabulary in the Preamble as they discuss the importance of the constitution in the lives of people today. In the Preview activity, students listen to and analyze the lyrics of the song “Preamble” from School House Rock. The response group activity has students analyze a word cloud of the Preamble to the Constitution and discuss how the words relate to the 21st Century. In the Processing activity, students write a short letter to the editor commemorating Constitution Day. T

To Sign or Not to Sign: The Ultimate Constitution Day Lesson Plan - From the National Constitution Center for use in middle and high school classrooms. Students examine and understand the role of the people in the Constitution. Constitutions are provided so that in small groups, students can examine Article VII and rewrite it in their own words. Annenberg Classroom - The Annenberg Public Policy center created classroom-ready digital resources to help schools celebrate Constitution Day. These include videos with downloadable lesson guides and quizzes. There are also several constitution based lesson plans to access on this site.
Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for Kids - Ben’s Guide to U.S. Government for Kids is the educational component of GPO Access, the Government Printing Office’s (GPO) free online service of official Government information from all three branches of the U.S. Government. Ben’s Guide provides information and activities specifically tailored for educators, parents, and students in K-12. These resources can help teach about our government and how it works. They can also teach about the primary source materials, and how citizens can carry out their civic responsibilities

Center for Civic Education - Commemorate Constitution Day and Citizenship Day with free, downloadable lessons for Grades K–12. The lessons are organized by grade level including a Constitution Day Rap for grades 1-2, an examination of the ideas of the Preamble for grades 3-4, a look at the forces behind the creation of the Federal system for grades 7-8 and multiple choices for grades 9-12.

SCORE - Schools of California Online Resources for Educators - The SCORE H/SS content Resources have been selected and evaluated by a team of educators from across California. SCORE H/SS features over 3500 primary and secondary web resources annotated and indexed to California's curriculum. These sites may be accessed through a search by grade level topic, content standard, or keyword on the SCORE H/SS database. After a continuous review of thousands of sites, these particular resources were chosen for their alignment to content standards, accuracy, grade appropriateness, and richness.
Smithsonian's History Explorer - Lessons and Activities 1754 - 1820's - History Explorer's resources focus on learning history by 'reading' objects for the stories they hold about the nation and its many peoples. Learning activities feature artifacts selected from over 3 million items in the Museum's collections, and draw on the expertise of the Museum's renowned curatorial staff.
