Introduction
Inventions have shaped our world. We benefit from the work of great inventors every day: when we switch on a light, use a computer, call a friend, or watch a video. Simple inventions, from buttons and zippers to Coca-Cola and cornflakes, make our lives easier and more enjoyable.

Some inventors toil for years to perfect an idea, while others work together, sharing their discoveries and insights.

Every invention creates new knowledge, and this knowledge is used to make new inventions or improve on a previous invention.

The famous inventor Thomas Edison said, 'genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.' What do you think he meant by that?

People have wanted to fly since they first saw birds soaring through the sky. From jumping off high places with feather-covered wings attached to their arms, to fantastic machines that flapped and fluttered and briefly hovered in the air before crashing to the ground, to the aircrafts that carry us across contients and even to the moon, we have come a long way!

As you research the history of FLIGHT and those dedicated and inspirational individuals who had the ideas and the determination to explore the unknown and build upon what was known, think about Edison's quote. Where would we be if it had not been for the imagination, creativity, courage, and perserverance of these men and women inventors?

Your Assignement:

-You will be researching the building of planes including a historical time line.

-You will implement with the class the flight experiment of each plane design and record data. You will show how to calculate the average distance, speed, velocity, and accuracy of each plane design and make an evaluation of the results.

-You will design a glider.

-You will write a poem based on the historical events and people in aviation.
