Dear Grade 7 students.
Imagine that you are applying to join the computer and technology team at your school. What should your qualifications be? Do you have enough computer and technology skills? How fast are you in finding solutions and figuring out the problems? Do you know how to use Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, or search for new tools in these programs if you needed any? Can you surf the net for new information?
Your computer and technology committee will decide whether to accept you or not after passing an apptitude test. The test will be to perform all the steps required below exactly on time at the end of your spring vacation. You will receive a rubric which shows how you'll be graded.

These are the steps to follow:
1- Create a folder naming it 'Computer Apptitude'. Use it to save all the required documents.
2- Use Google to search for information about at least 5 computer hardware parts necessary for its functioning (like the motherboard, cpu, ram, sound card, video card...), and about 2 computer accessories (graphics tablet, webcam, gaming devices, wireless devices... ), and finally about caring for the laptop battery.
3- Use Word Processing program to write down your research results as follows:
a) Include a main centered title for the research.
b) Include the following three subtiltles: Computer Hardware,
Computer Accessories, Laptop Battery.
c) Under every subtitle, add your related information (search
results.)
d) Every hardware part or accessory mentioned should include an
explanation of at least 2 lines and a picture.
e) Add bullets for the list of hardware parts and the list of
accessories.
f) Include a header with the date and a footer with your name.
g) Check your document for errors and misspellings.
h) Set your top, bottom, right and left margins to 1cm.
i) Add a page border for your document.
j) Save your document.
4- Open a Spreadsheet program. On sheet1 perform the following:
a) Change your page orientation to landscape.
b) In the first column, type the titles: Computer Part, Brand,
Price.
c) Change these 3 titles to bold and color the cells yellow.
d) In the first row, type all devices' names you've talked
about in your research. Color their cells in red.
e) In the second row, type a brand name for every part.
f) In the third, type the prices of these parts.
g) In the forth row, use the round function to round the prices
to the nearest ten.
h) Add borders for your table.
i) Make sure to resize columns when needed so that all the text
is readable.
j) Adjust the page setup so that your sheet fits on one A4
sheet.
k) Save your spreadsheet file.
5- Present your search results in a presentation program like Power Point. follow these guidelines:
a) Include a title slide.
b) Include an ending slide.
c) Designs, colors and animations are kept up to your choice.
d) Include a table of contents slide after the title slide.
e) Include hyperlinks from the table of contents slide and back
to the table of contents.

2- http://www.google.com (use the question: 'What is ........ ?' to search directly for the required part.)
3- http://www.google.com (use the term: 'computer parts' in the google search box, then you may enter to any commercial website for the brands and prices.)
Phase 2 - Roles
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Remember to include the URL of the page you take information from so you can return to it and use it as a citation.
2. Use the checklist at the end of every part. It is very important to check whether you've missed any requirement.
3. Refer to your booklet or to the Microsoft Office help for any information needed.

Phase 3 - Reaching Consensus
So do you think you'll pass this apptitude test? Fill in the checklist column in your rubric table and hand it in to your instructor.
Copy the whole folder to a CD or a Flash drive and bring it to the Lab, save it in your Portfolio.
You will receive your results within a few days.
