Introduction
Each set of partners has selected an object and a site for their monumental sculpture project. I want you to explore and become familiar with the history behind monumental sculpture and pop art. Also, I want you to become familiar with history of your product. You will use all of this information to develop your idea as well as write an artist statement to go with your artwork.
To start with I just want you to explore all of the sites under monumental sculpture and pop art. All groups will be required to have an artist statement to put on display with their project. The artist statement should refer to some related art history.

Task
To start with I just want you to explore all of the sites under monumental sculpture and pop art. All groups will be required to have an artist statement to put on display with their project. The artist statement should refer to some of the art history learned from these sites.

Then, I need you start researching the history of your product. This can be difficult depending on the product. Make sure to get 5 historical facts about your item and RECORD THE URL OF THE SITES THE INFORMATION WAS RETRIEVED FROM.

Lastly, Decide if you are going to make a modern example of your item or are you going to use one of its past looks. Make sure to print a picture and glue it into your packet for BOTH PARTNERS. Also, save a copy of the picture in your file.

Process
Individually, explore the sites that relate to your project. Try and break up the searching so that you and your partner work together to get all of the needed information.

Phase 1 - Background Information
These sites are important because they will provide basic information about the topic as a whole. Everyone should explore these sites before starting.

Phase 2 - Roles
These roles were chosen because they each define the most important elements of Monumental Pop Art Sculpture. Each of you has been assigned a particular role with links and instructions below. Here are the general instructions for all of you. Please see your specific instructions and questions below.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Two members from each WebQuest team will explore one of the roles below.

2. Read through the files designated for your group. You can print out pages and underline the parts that you feel are important or cut and paste from the webpage into a word processor.

3. Remember to include the URL of the page you take information from so you can return to it and use it as a citation.

4. Focus what you've learned into one main opinion that answers the Big Quest(ion) or Task.

Item/Product History:

Find 5 facts about the history of your item. MAKE SURE TO RECORD YOUR SOURCES. Finding your products history might be difficult. I would start with searching the sites listed below and just search for 'your items name, history'. Then, if that didn't work try researching the manufacture of the product and go to their site. Lastly, try Wikipedia. Do not use this site as a source, but at the bottom of the page it should have a list of resources. Or, the texted on Wikipedia might give you some search ideas.

Pictures:

If you did not find a picture during your product history search, these sites might be helpful. Make sure that it is the correct size and that you and your partner have a copy as well as a copy saved in your file. If the picture is not clear, please look for another one.

Phase 3 - Reaching Consensus
You have all learned about different parts of Pop Art Monumental Sculpture. Now, as a team I want you to use all of this information to answer the following questions. Keep in mind, that each of you might have different ideas about how to solve the problem. It is important to work together to find the best solution.

How will you change your sculpture to fit the display space?

How will you incorpurtate the art history into your sculpture?
