Wired Learning

Wired Learning refers to the lessons, curriculum, WebQuests, and other materials that the KNE Application Design Team developed as part of the original AT&T Knowledge Network Explorer.

These sites were offered for many years for free to educators, librarians, and others. The development and maintenance of all but a few of these sites is no longer supported and they have, therefore, been removed. The remaining live websites are listed below.

21st Century Literacy	21st Century Literacies refer to the skills needed to flourish in today's society and in the future. Today discrete disciplines have emerged around information, media, multicultural, and visual literacies. This site was developed as part of a special project for KNE by students and staff at the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. As part of this project,a 15-minute video introducing information literacy was created -- eLiterate
Filamentality	How do you get started integrating the wealth of the Web into your learning environment? Filamentality is an Interactive Website that guides you through creating five different types of Web pages and then posts it right on the Internet! Try making a Hotlist, Multimedia Scrapbook, Subject Sampler, Treasure Hunt, or WebQuest. Create one or collect all five!
Nuts and Bolts of the Big6	One way is to break down the components involved in information problem-solving. Several years ago, Mike Eisenberg and Bob Berkowitz developed a process called The Big6TM which guides students through information problem-solving and along the way provides a basic framework for teaching and promoting information literacy.
Uncommon Mission	Mervyn's sponsored the original Uncommon Mission as part of its corporate commitment to raise public awareness about the preservation needs of California Missions. Think Jacobson and Roth, creators of the traveling exhibit, approached SBC Knowledge Network Explorer on behalf of Mervyn's which ultimately lead to this web site.
Videoconferencing for Learning	This resource helps teachers and librarians use two-way video effectively. The site includes teaching strategies, planning tools, searchable directories, an interactive discussion list, and more.

Where has all our content gone? KNE has been on the Internet since 1995. Support has changed. We will continue to host Filamentality and several of our original sites including Videoconferencing for Learning, Filamantality, and the Big6.
